I bought a tomato plant at the farmers market early this spring which already had a few tomatoes fairly well developled. I transplanted them into a larger container and took loving care of them all summer. The tomatoes took on a a dark blackish green colour as they ripened. In fact it took me a long time to realize they were ripe. When I cut them open they were a dark purplish red. Is this a variety I don't know about or some sort of disease? All my other container tomatoes in the same greenhouse developed normally. Any ideas?

This more than likely is a Heirloom Black Tomato. Check out www.cottagegardener.com website for Heirloom Black Tomato seeds and see if the descriptions match. I'm pretty sure they will.
