MASTER PLAN UPDATE at Selby Gardens
by Selby Gardens
April 7, 2019

The Selby Gardens’ Team is working hard behind-the-scenes in preparation for the implementation of Phase One of the Master Site Plan later this year. Each month, this e-news feature will provide you with an update on events and happenings related to the transformation.

It is equally important to emphasize, that the initial goals and purpose behind the Master Site Plan continue to lead this process.

These goals are as follows:

Preserve our history:

1) Designate our privately owned 15 acres as a botanical garden and downtown oasis in perpetuity.

2) Sustain Marie Selby's property as it was when she lived there-as well as the adjacent parcels-while also adding 50% more gardens space.

3) Preserve our historically designated buildings (including Selby House and Payne Mansion) and the Augusta Block promenade of south palm avenue.

Sustain our future:

1) Safeguard and showcase the world's best scientifically documented collections of orchids and bromeliads.

2) Connect the underserved families and children in our region to nature.

3) Accommodate our visitors with proper amenities.

4) An international model for sustainability and the latest green building technology.

We also recently updated our website with Frequently Asked Questions about the Master Plan. You may access them here.

If you’d like to learn more about ways you can support these efforts, including key meeting dates, as we journey through this transformation, please email us at Masterplan@selby.org.
