Proper Tips for Aphid Control

If you want to have a beautiful garden, aphids can be your worst nightmare.

These little insects feed on the sap of many plants found in garden, causing them to develop poorly and, in some cases, not develop at all. If left unchecked is significant so here are a few steps that you can take in order to control the growth of aphids, the damage they can do to a garden.

1. Use homemade sprays

There are countless products available which are meant to kill off aphids and for the most part, they work well. However, you can get similar results with homemade sprays which are much cheaper and more accessible. One of them is made using garlic oil as the main ingredient and it does a good job of keeping aphid populations at bay as long as you spray it regularly.

2. Use insecticidal soap

Sometimes the spray is not enough, both homemade and commercial, and the aphids just keep sticking around. In this case, insecticidal soap is required. When you apply it, make sure to cover the undersides of the leaves, as well. The aphids can move there and you will be back to where you started if you leave any area unprotected.

3. Bring in aphid killers

While aphids cause a lot of harm to your plants, they are also the basic food source for many other insects such as ladybugs or lacewings. If you want to attract these insects to your garden, you should plant dill, clovers and yarrow, mint or dandelions and your garden will get free protection from aphids.
