Book Review!

For florists and flower arrangers everywhere this is a must read and a feast for the eyes. With so many new and exciting flowers and foliage available to florists and hobbyists the world over, herein lies a book that forges that gap between traditional and highly unconventional designs. Over 50 arrangements can be found in this book, all beautifully photographed with step-by-step instructions for professionals and non-professionals alike. Arrangements span from decorative designs, sympathy and wedding designs, new hand tied designs, and a special section where the authors provide more innovative ideas for "extending the boundaries". Moss sculptures, use of lead to make unique containers, twisted branch twigs as the basis for design, multi-centered table arrangements, and arrangements intertwined within hand-woven containers including similar materials extend such boundaries in floral design. The majority of the arrangements in this volume are primarily fresh based, but there are several dried floral designs as well. The last section of the book is quite useful with tips on cut flower care including a flower care chart, as well as descriptive text and photos providing explanations on weaving grass, plaiting palms, and covering containers with woven materials. A detailed index is found on the final pages. Highly recommended.
