Carla Allen has been gardening for the past 25 years, co-owned a nursery in southwestern Nova Scotia for 16 years, has a syndicated garden column 'The Vine" in five Nova Scotia newspapers, is the regional correspondent for Garden Life and editor of East Coast Gardener and Homes.

Carla has an extensive image library and nurtures a network of horticulture in the region. She is the first president of the Yarmouth Garden Club and founder of the East Coast Gardener listserve.

She and author Carol Matthews organized the first Garden Writers Association conference in Atlantic Canada in 2003. Her cable television program "Let's Get Growing" ran for several years and she is the former host for a regular biweekly feature on herbs on CBC radio. She has spoken at Canada Blooms, for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Agrifest '04, and extensively for garden clubs in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Gardens are such an important part of her life that when the time came to uproot and strike new roots personally, she made sure many of her plants came with her. Continued growth should be everyone's goal. When you're through growing, you're through. :-)
